Supervision and Monitoring of Aftout El Chargui drinking water supply project works from Foum Gleita dam (lots 1 and 4)
Project Background :
Aftout El Charghui region is located in Mauritania poverty triangle and has been experiencing drought problems for 30 years causing an inexorable drop in groundwater. It is in this context that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, through the Directorate of Hydrology and Dams (DHB) under the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation (MHA), initiated an ambitious drinking water supply project in Aftout El Charghui, from the surface waters of Foum Gleita-dam. The project will eventually reach a total population of 114,900 inhabitants (2013 forecast) and benefit to more than 500 localities located between the three major regions of Aftout El Charghui (Gorgol, Assaba and Brakna) with a total linear of nearly 550 km.
